Well, for those of you who know me at all, you know I love Garage Sale and Thrift Store shopping. LOVE it. It's actually a bit of an obsession... Teehee... Well, lately, I've even begun to get Dearest J to accompany me on my shopping trips sometimes. He drives and I navigate and get out and survey the sales and see if there might be anything that he might be interested in, in which case he'll get out of the car after I get done shopping and I'll let him and sometimes V out to shop too. Sometimes, if the Garage Sale is really worthy, we'll all get out together! Anyway, so we went this past Saturday and one of the reasons I started this Blog was to make a place where I could list my Garage Sale Loot with pictures and everything.
Above are some of the things I found (above because, being new to this Blog thing tonight and running out of patience with messing with it, I can't figure out how to get them to post below or in line with the text and my kids are all screaming and being bratty because I've officially taken too much time figuring it out... So.... There it is... ha!)
The first picture is of a Disney Sheet with Princess Jasmine on it. I have been collecting such sheets when I find them in good repair for the eventual day I have both kids in Twin Beds. That's the ticket to buying everything in your household 2nd-hand, buying it when you find it and tucking it away to use when you need it. I have enough sheets for L's future bed likely already but when the day comes that the kids don't share a room anymore, she'll have a lovely room outfitted with any number of Princesses on her bed. Got this one for 75cents. It's just a top sheet but I figure that a corresponding color bottom sheet, and we're set.
Next we have what I considered to be the 'Find of the Day'. A bike for V. He's wanted one for a while now and tries to climb on any that he see's out at playdates and whatnot. He's really out grown his tricycle and I've just been biding my time, waiting for the right bike to come along. This one needs training wheels and pedals but is in otherwise 'ready to ride' condition and I got it for $4. Steal! J's parents are planning on buying him a bigger bike for Christmas but I figure this one will be good to learn with and when he's done with it, L's will have it as her 'starter' bike. Was so stoked to find it. When my kids are done with it, I am sure that some Littlie in the Hot Mama's will find good use in it too... Love that!
Then the pic of me, it's the Tshirt I am modeling that I got last weekend. I Love the movie 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and I got the shirt for 25cents. I bought it from a lady who bought it for her 12yr old daughter and the daughter outgrew it... Heck, I might've bought it just for the ego boost that it was that I could fit in to it when a 12yr old had outgrown it...! Ha! Not really! I plan to wear it all during the Fall and around Halloween a whole bunch. Love it!
The next picture is of one of my favorite things to look for when I go out 'Saling.... Books! I love Adult books and Childrens Books but this weekend the later is what I found the most of. The childrens books in this picture I got for 25cents each except for the Little Golden Books which I got both of them for a quater... Love that!
The Pink Robe in nearly new condition which I am packing away for L because it's still a bit big. It'll fit her next fall. I paid $1 for it. Robes are a weakness of mine, I have about a half dozen of my own (all gleaned from Thrift Stores and/or Garage Sales) in various lengths and styles and I've seemingly passed the 'need' for a robe right out of the bath or shower on to my children. They insist on one! Teehee...
The next photo includes a Precious Moments nick-nack that I got for $1. My Mom had the same one in her Precious Moments collection and while I have never been a nick-nack type person, especially since I had kids, I really loved that particular one and always thought it'd make a great one to put in the bathroom. So, now I have one. It's in my bathroom as I type. In the same photo are three Roller Stamps and Inks to go with and a set of 'adhere to the block before you stamp with' stamps. The stamp set is brand new and even has the $7.95 price sticker on the back showing that as what the lady I bought them from paid for them. They've never been opened. The Roller Stamps, back when I used to buy them, went for about $8.95 each and the inks for around $6. I got all the stamps shown for $6. Love that. I have thousands of stamps (you think I am embellishing here, but that'll be a future Blog Post and you'll see I am completely honest when I say that) and don't really need any more but, hey, at those prices, why not?! Roller Stamps are great for making Gift Bags for Childrens Parties and the one that is a bit dark from Ink is of 'Skeletons' and I plan to make Gift Bags for a Halloween Party I am hosting in the Fall.... So, Score!!
Next, you see a collection of odds and ends toys... I got them all for 50cents. The ObiWan figure alone, new, would cost $6.95, saying you could even find it, so as you can tell, that was a great buy. V has been carrying that figure around since Saturday and it made his weekend to get it. So, again, Score!
In the last photo, as I mentioned above, I am hosting a Halloween Party and so I've been searching for Halloween Decor this Summer at Garage Sales. Well, I got all the things shown in that last photo for about $4. (dont' really recall exactly how much it all came to? Chatted with the ladies at the sale and also got a muffin and soda there but that sounds about right). The napkins were especially fun. They're new in the package and I have another few packages of 'oddball' napkins I plan to use for the party and they'll be perfect for Halloween.
Ok.... That might've been as boring as watching paint dry to some people but to people like me, who LOVE Thrify Living, it's fun to read such things.... Since this is My Blog, I'll bore you if I want to... haha! Maybe you'll never come back? haha! Oh well, this is the beginning of a likely 'series' of 'finds' that are to come, so at least you know what you're in for...
Big Hugs and Smiles,
H
